10 healthy resolutions for a better you and sustainable environment

January 4, 2022 by Varsha Kariya

You hear about the same old resolutions every year – lose weight, eat better, and exercise more. But if you’re like most people, you don’t keep those resolutions for very long.

Your healthy New Year’s Resolution this year doesn’t have to be boring or difficult. Commit to adding a little nature into your everyday life and get healthier in the process!

For many people, a healthy resolutions is a challenge that can be met only if they commit to it wholeheartedly, and in doing so, they’re setting themselves up for failure. By the time February rolls around, they’ve gone back to their old habits.

Achieving a significant personal goal takes time. Change is a process that takes place over weeks and months, not days and weeks. Pushing yourself too hard can have the opposite effect of what you want because it can lead to burnout.

Here are some healthy resolutions to bring nature into your everyday life:

1. Grow a plant and nourish it

Your environment can influence your mind, and your mind can influence your environment. But what if you could change the world around you by simply changing the way you think?

What if you could grow a plant, nurture it, care for it, and watch it grow?

A plant is a metaphor for change that starts from within and an object of beauty that positively affects those who view it. You don’t have to be a gardener to do this. It can be any plant; there are many varieties that are relatively easy to tend to and maintain. Growing plants indoors has become quite popular recently with people who live in apartments or don’t have much space outside their homes.

Think about all the new beginnings you will achieve by caring for one small living thing. This is similar to taking care of yourself and nurturing your health, emotions, and relationships. Nurture yourself with good food, regular exercise, and plenty of rest.

2. Spend more time with your family in the nature

Resolving to spend more time outdoors has many benefits, including a healthier you and a sustainable environment.

The health benefits of spending time in nature are well documented, from reducing stress levels to improving sleep patterns, lowering blood pressure, and boosting creativity. Spending time outdoors also encourages physical activity – and as we know, regular physical activity is key for overall health.

3. BYOB: Bring your bags for shopping

There are a couple of good reasons to adopt a “bring your own bag” lifestyle. As a consumer, you’ll be reducing the number of plastic bags you use and throwing away, which is better for the environment. You’ll also be supporting local businesses by giving them your business.

4. Eat organic food

Organic food is not only better for you but can also be grown without pesticides and GMOs (genetically modified organisms). Eating organic can reduce your risk for cancer, diabetes, and other diseases linked to pesticide exposure. And since you’re avoiding all of the toxic pesticides that have been linked with these diseases, you’ll also be saving yourself from major health problems down the road. This will also save you money and help clean up the environment at the same time!

5. Walk, hike, use public transportation.

Take public transportation to work, even one day a week. If you live in a city with good public transit, pledge to take it on a designated day of the week — every Monday or Wednesday, for example. You’ll save on parking and gas, and you’ll be reducing air pollution.

Walk or bike to make short trips instead of driving. It doesn’t have to be an all-or-nothing choice: Park farther away from your destination and get in some exercise.

Go hiking with your friends after class or on the weekends. Hiking is a fun exercise, especially if you plan it as an adventure with lots of stops along the way to enjoy the scenery!

6. Less use of plastic

Are you interested in becoming more eco-friendly? Even if you’re not ready to go completely green, reducing your carbon footprint can be as simple as forgetting about disposable plastic water bottles or turning off the lights every time you leave a room. Say no to plastic bags, plastic straws, and throwaway cups.

Replace the things you use with sustainable alternatives.

Choose Sustainable Living

7. Wear sustainable clothes

Every time you make a purchase, you have the power to choose between products that are made from sustainable materials and those manufactured in ways that harm our natural resources. By making informed decisions about what you buy and supporting companies committed to sustainable practices, you can help protect the places you love and get involved with conservation efforts year-round.

8. Encourage others to protect the environment.

Be a role model. If you’re serious about saving the planet, you shouldn’t drive to work if public transit is an option. Go paperless with your bills and recycle the junk mail you get in the mail. Encourage others to protect the environment by taking part in Earth Day activities and helping to raise awareness.

Share your knowledge. Be an advocate for the environment. Encourage others to take action. Spread the word on social media or write a blog post about why you care about saving the Earth and what you’re doing in your own life to help protect our planet.

9. Speak out against the inequalities – racism, favoritism, unequal distribution of wealth

To speak out against the inequalities that continue to plague our society. As long as there is racism, favoritism, unequal distribution of wealth, and other social injustices worldwide, we should take action to change it. Don’t turn your back if you see or hear something wrong happening around you. Be a voice for change and help make this world a better place for everyone.

Say what you feel is right. Don’t be afraid to speak up and let others know if things aren’t right in your workplace or neighborhood. You never know who might end up being your biggest supporter, so have faith in yourself and your beliefs.

10. Detox your body and your home – Try using natural cleansers

The new year is a great time to kick bad habits and start fresh. The cold winter months are the perfect time to freshen up your home and body with natural, healthy products. By reducing toxins in your everyday life, you can reduce the risk of health issues like headaches and allergies.

Here’s how to detox your home and remove toxic chemicals from your life:

Home:

Start by cleaning out your cabinets and getting rid of any unnecessary cleaning products. You should replace harsh chemical cleaners with natural alternatives that are safe for children and pets but work just as well for cleaning floors, counters, and appliances in your kitchen.

Another way to detoxify your home is to use nontoxic paints, stains, adhesives, and sealants around your house. Natural materials like linseed oil, beeswax, and walnut oil are great alternatives to chemical-based paints, stains, glues, and finishes.

Body:

Detoxifying your body should be a new year goal, and it is simple if you start at the root of the problem — the foods you eat. Start eating whole foods rich in nutrients rather than processed ingredients full of sugar and chemicals. The easiest way is to go back to basics — buy whole fruits instead of fruit juices; buy organic vegetables.

As with other New Year’s resolutions, you may find it hard to keep up with these good habits in the long term; however, incorporating small changes into your everyday life could help you achieve your goals for the new year.

Thus the New Year is a time for reflection and resolutions.

However, this should not just be an annual event. You need to take more time to consider what you are doing and how you are living your lives. This can be a new beginning. This can mean many things, from looking at our diets and lifestyles to ensuring that what we buy is sustainable and ethically made.

7 Awesome Steps To Detox Your Mind With Meditation

December 28, 2021 by Varsha Kariya

If you want to learn how to detox your mind, you may consider meditating. Meditation is a practice that focuses on mindfulness and achieving a calm state. It’s been around for centuries and used by people from different backgrounds. There are many forms of meditation, but they all have the same goal: peace of mind. The best way to find peace of mind is to clear your mind and focus on the present moment.

Trying meditation for the first time can be a little scary or intimidating, but remember that it does not always have to be done in a certain way or at a certain time.

Detox Your Mind

The present moment is the only time guaranteed to you, so it’s important to be fully alive in it. Meditation can help you do this. It’s a simple process of harnessing your awareness and directing it inward to experience the present moment fully.

While there are many ways to detox naturally at home, one of the most effective ways to remove toxins from your body is through meditation.

Detoxing with meditation

To detox using meditation, all you need is 10 minutes of quiet time per day. The most important thing is to focus on your breath while you meditate.

By doing so, you’ll be able to reduce the amount of stress you feel and the amount of toxins that are released in your body by up to 23 percent.

So how exactly does it work?

When you’re stressed out or feeling anxious, your muscles tend to get tight, and your blood starts pumping fast. This is known as the fight or flight response (also known as the sympathetic nervous system). When this happens, stress hormones such as adrenaline are released into the body to react quickly if necessary.

How to detox your mind with meditation.

1. Start with small

If you are not yet convinced that meditation is for you, perhaps the idea of starting with a smaller practice will appeal. Mindfulness is about being present in the moment and can be applied to your everyday life.

If you can start by doing just ten minutes. Meditation for purification sessions is similar to working out: it’s easier to build up endurance than to try and do a whole session in one go. You might find that you enjoy your ten minutes and want to keep going.

2. Take out the fear

Meditation is one of the most effective ways to take out the fear from the mind. Energy cleansing meditation has been practiced for thousands of years, and it’s a proven technique by which a person can achieve a stress-free mind.

The essence of meditation is to reach a state of “consciousness”. This means being present at the moment and not getting distracted by thinking about the past or future. It also means you have to observe your thoughts as they come and go without getting attached to them or judging them.

When you are able to do this, you will feel a sense of peace and relaxation in your body and mind that can last throughout the day.

3.Know your path

There are many ways to meditate, but you will know a few ways to make your mind more peaceful and relaxed. You should know that there is no one way to meditate; it depends on you to choose what kind of meditation suits you the best.

You can do some meditation with others or do it by yourself. It all depends on your personality. Some people like to meditate in a group, and others want to be silent and be alone. Before going for the type of meditation, you should know what suits you better.

4. Calm your mind

Meditation is the practice of calming your mind and achieving a state of mental clarity. Over time, you can learn to quiet your thoughts and find inner peace with regular practice.

5. Focus

Meditation calms the mind, allowing you to focus better. When we have a lot of things on our minds, it is hard to focus on one thing. Meditation can help you clear your mind and think clearly.

Some people believe that meditation allows you to become so relaxed that you do not need to sleep anymore. However, this is not true. Meditation just helps your body relax and rejuvenate so that you gain energy from it instead of losing energy.

6. Constant gratitude

Gratitude is an essential component of meditation. Gratitude transforms every moment of our lives from something we endure into something we enjoy. Gratitude turns negative emotions into positive ones; it allows us to see the good in everything around us. It turns what might seem like a burden into something we can embrace as a joy – even if only for that one moment.

7. Accept your emotions

Set aside time each day. To begin meditating, you need to make time in your schedule for it. If you don’t do this, you will probably just forget about doing it and miss out on all the benefits that come from regular practice. Ideally, you should meditate at the same time each day so that your body adjusts to this new routine. When choosing a time to meditate, make sure that it is not too early in the morning or too late at night. An ideal time would be right after work when you get home from work or right before bedtime if you can’t seem to fall asleep at night.

Accept Your Emotions

If possible, choose a quiet place where there won’t be any distractions. Many people choose to meditate in their bedrooms because they find that the quiet and peaceful surroundings help them clear their minds and relax more easily.

The benefits of meditation are undeniable. Studies show that meditation can help with anxiety, depression, and insomnia. It also reduces pain and helps people quit smoking. So if you’re looking for a way to relax your mind and body to heal from chronic pain, you may benefit from trying meditation.

Thus meditation is the best way to detox the mind. It is a way to relax the body and an effective technique to remove stress from your mind.

8 Stunning Effects Of Meditation On Your Body And Mind

December 21, 2021 by Varsha Kariya

Meditation is a practice that has been around for thousands of years, but only recently have we started to understand its positive effects on the human body and mind.

The practice of meditation is used to control the mind and train it to focus on specific things. This could be anything from your breath, an object, or even a mantra. The objective is to empty the mind of all thoughts while focusing on one thing.

When you meditate, you can achieve a lot of benefits. You can reduce stress levels, increase focus and improve your health. Meditation has been proven to strengthen your immune system, slow down the aging process, increase life expectancy and even reduce blood pressure.

If you’re trying to get your first meditation practice going, it can be confusing about what to do. There are so many styles and types of meditation; how do you choose? How can you make it work in your life? How does the brain react when you meditate? We’ll answer all of these.

effects of meditation

So, what happens when you meditate?

Effects of meditation on the body

Meditating regularly can lead to lower blood pressure, less muscle tension and chronic pain, and an increased sense of calm. You might feel more energetic or rested after a meditation session, or both. Studies show that people who practice mindfulness meditation may have improved brain functioning and fewer symptoms of depression than those who don’t meditate.

Effects of meditation on the mind

Many people report feeling more relaxed, peaceful, and happy after practicing meditation regularly for several months or years. They also say they feel more in control of their emotions and can handle problems more effectively than before they began meditating.

Here are some of the stunning effects of Meditation.

1. Meditation benefits for the brain

Your brain gets bigger.

When you meditate regularly, studies show that your hippocampus grows in size. This is a part of the brain that’s involved in learning and memory. Another study found that people who meditated had a more gray matter in certain areas of their brain, as well as other areas that deal with emotion and stress.

It makes you smarter.

Studies show that people who meditate have increased attention spans, concentration, and memory retention. One study also found that people who meditated regularly were better at processing information faster than those who didn’t meditate. And a study using an fMRI machine found that regular meditation changed the physical structure of the brains of experienced meditators — specifically, the areas associated with compassion and selflessness grew larger.

It makes you happier!

A recent study suggests that people who practice mindfulness techniques such as meditation literally reboot their brains and feel happier.

Meditation Tips

2. It acts as an antidepressant to anxiety

Stress can cause serious health issues like hypertension and kidney failure. When practicing meditation on a regular basis, your heart rate slows down, which reduces blood pressure. In addition to this, the neurotransmitters released during mediation are the same ones that reduce stress while they stimulate serotonin production.

When you meditate regularly, you will feel less depressed and anxious than before because your brain will produce more dopamine and GABA, which suppresses negativity in your life. You will also feel happier because you will have a better perspective on things and find positivity in every situation, no matter how bad it is.

3. Improves concentration and attention

When we’re stressed, our minds often jump from one thought to another — whether we’re trying to solve a problem at work or simply get through the day. Meditation teaches you to focus on one thought or object without judgment or distraction, which is an incredibly useful skill no matter what you do for a living.

4. Helps to recover from various types of addiction

There’s a lot of evidence that shows that meditation can help with addiction. It helps regulate emotions, which is very important for people who are addicted.

The fact is people who are addicted often have an imbalance in their brain chemistry that leads them to engage in addictive behavior. Meditation can help rebalance their brain chemistry and regulate the emotions that drive addiction.

It also helps you become more aware of the stressors in your life. When you become aware of those stressors, you can learn how to respond differently to them than before, when acting on impulse.

5. Reduces the blood pressure

Meditation is effective in lowering blood pressure. A study has confirmed that meditation helps to reduce the effects of stress on our health.

It is possible that meditation can help lower blood pressure and reduce the effects stress has on the body in people who are susceptible to it.

6. Improves the quality of sleep

Meditation is not just a way to relax; it’s a way to improve sleep quality. A growing body of evidence shows that meditation can reduce insomnia and restless sleep while boosting the benefits of sleep.

effects of meditation is good sleep quality

7. You can be in a better mood if you meditate every day.

When you’re trying to get in a better mood, it’s natural to start thinking about what you can do to change your mood. But the first step is realizing that you have the power to control your emotions and moods by controlling your thoughts. You can be happier by simply changing the way you think, and one of the best ways to do that is through meditation.

Treat meditation like a sport or a workout. It may appear difficult at first, but once you get into the habit of doing regular meditations, it becomes easier — and more natural.

8. It improves the immunity power

If we are stressed, the immune system is weakened. The nervous system is activated by stress hormones such as epinephrine, norepinephrine, and cortisol. This can lead to decreased immune cell production, reduced blood flow to the organs.

A 30-minute meditation daily can strengthen your immune system.

To improve your immunity power, you need to control your stress level with different techniques such as yoga and meditation.

7 Amazing benefits of binaural beats which you did not know

December 14, 2021 by Varsha Kariya

Binaural beats are the coolest thing since sliced bread!

You don’t believe me?

Have you heard of the Monroe Institute? They have been using these binaural beats for years.

Tibetan monks use them, as well as countless other religions, to reach a meditative state. If you’re interested in meditation, binaural beats are a must.

Simplest way to detox your mind

There are two types of binaural beats; one is called “frequency following response” and one is called “binaural entrainment”. The first one is simple. When you listen to a tone with a specific frequency, your brainwave patterns will match that frequency, and you will enter the same state as if you were listening to that tone without headphones.

The second type is more advanced and has only been around since 1995. This method uses stereo headphones and two different tones with different frequencies and phases, so the result is not just a tone but a pulse that follows both frequencies simultaneously. Each frequency corresponds to certain states of consciousness, such as relaxation or wakefulness.

The brain can follow one frequency or both depending upon which state it needs to be in for specific activities.

Binaural beats have been used for brainwave entrainment since the 1800s. Brainwave entrainment is a simple concept. It states that any two waveforms that are close to each other in frequency will induce a state of hypnosis or meditation when they are listened to with headphones. The brain perceives them as one waveform.

benefits of binaural beats

What are binaural beats?

Binaural beats therapy is a method used to balance the human brain, and it is done so by creating a low-frequency tone that causes the brain to produce an audio effect (called a binaural beat) that is perceived as a pulsating sound. This process says to the brain that you are relaxed and focused, providing relief from stress and anxiety, encouraging creativity, helping with sleep problems, and much more.

The way it works is by entraining your brainwaves. Brainwave activity will change when listening to binaural beats, depending on whether you are in Alpha, Beta, or Theta waves. Each of these different states has different benefits for the human body and mind.

The concept of binaural beats was first discovered in 1839 by Heinrich Wilhelm Dove, but he didn’t get much further than just recognizing it. It wasn’t until the 20th century that the science behind this practice was fleshed out by Drs. Gerald Oster and Thomas Campbell. Their research showed how people could be influenced by means other than drugs or hypnosis alone.

Benefits of binaural beats meditation

Two slightly different tones create these sounds. The brain perceives the difference between the two, creating a third sound. Binaural beats can be used to induce relaxation and sleep or to help with focus.

Tinnitus:

It can be noticed that the low frequencies in binaural beats can sometimes mask the ringing in the ears. If you use them for a few minutes each day, you see an improvement in your “ringing,” making you think they are worth trying.

Focus:

Most people use them to improve focus while studying or working on a task.

Stress relief: Binaural beats can be used to reduce general stress levels by relaxing the mind and body through their soothing sound waves. They can also be used for more acute stress relief, such as in the case of post-traumatic stress disorder.

Sleep aid:

Studies have shown that binaural beats are just as effective (if not more effective) than white noise when it comes to helping you fall asleep quickly and stay asleep all night long.

Improves concentration:

Binaural beats help improve concentration by stimulating certain areas of your brain. These areas control your alertness, creativity, memory, and other cognitive functions. They can help you reach higher concentration levels quickly and easily when practicing any activity that needs focus, such as studying for an exam, learning a new language, or playing a musical instrument.

Good for mental and physical health:

Binaural beats are a scientifically proven, effective way to improve your mental and physical performance. This technology has been used for decades by top athletes, musicians, and other performers to achieve peak states of creative flow.

Note: Tennis legend John McEnroe is a proponent of using binaural beats for improved performance. He claims that listening to these beats helped him win 20 straight matches at the 1984 US Open.

How to use binaural beats for meditation

Binaural beats are a powerful way to enter the meditative state. It’s like turning on your brain’s “chill mode”. You can use these beats in two ways:

1) Use binaural beats while meditating

2) Listen to binaural beats while relaxing

Tibetan monks are known to chant with their heads placed inside large bowls filled with water, which produces a similar effect to binaural beats. The monks listen to these binaural beats in order to induce a meditative state.

If you’re not ready to chant with your head in a giant bowl of water, you can use modern-day technology to experience the same effects. Binaural beats are frequencies played through stereo headphones.

One frequency is sent into one speaker, and a different frequency is sent into the other speaker. When these two frequencies are heard by each ear simultaneously, your brain creates the frequency that is the difference between the two. For example, if a left ear frequency of 100 Hz is played and a right ear frequency of 110 Hz is played, your brain will process and absorb a 10 Hz frequency.

Binaural beats can be used as an aid during meditation because they help focus the mind. This allows you to reach deeper states of consciousness more quickly than usual meditation methods.

There are many different kinds of binaural beats available, but the most popular ones have the following frequencies:

Alpha: 8Hz+

Beta: 12Hz+

Gamma: 16Hz+

Delta: 1-4Hz

Binaural beats make it easier for your body and mind to reach a deep state of relaxation. Many people find them very relaxing, while others do not feel anything. When listening to binaural beats, it is essential that you listen to high-quality recordings because low-quality recordings do not properly create the desired effect of entrainment.

Mindfulness Meditation: In this practice, you bring awareness to the present moment by focusing on your breathing as you sit still for long periods (usually 20 minutes or more). You can do this with or without an object or phrase to focus on, but you can also “stray” by thinking about other things.

Thus Meditation can improve your health, fitness, and happiness. It comes with many health benefits. You can get clarity on a problem, calm the mind and focus better.

health benefits of meditation

1. Practicing meditation takes commitment. If you’re serious about it, make a commitment to yourself to do it for 30 days in a row. Set the alarm if you need to.

2. Don’t force it. If you find that your mind keeps wandering from your breath, just notice that and return to focusing on your breath every time you realize your mind wandered off. Think of each time you have to refocus as a success!

3. Get some support or guidance if necessary. Check out books or online resources with guided meditations, or attend a class or workshop led by someone with experience and knowledge of meditation techniques.

4. Meditate in the same place at the same time every day, if possible. This will help anchor your practice and make it easier to stick with it over time.

Meditation has to be one of the most powerful and beneficial relaxation methods available today. It has been proven to provide many physical and mental health benefits. Meditation benefits you to slow down and live in the moment.

What are the benefits of a gratitude journal?

1. You will gain a new perspective of life

A gratitude journal is a powerful tool that can create a shift in your life and change your perspective.

To begin with, it helps you to focus on what matters. It’s just as the name suggests – you’re writing down everything that you’re grateful for. You can write anything from your health and family to success and wealth. Anything that makes you happy and that you feel good about.

2. You will become more self-aware

Writing in a gratitude journal is one of the best ways to become more self-aware and bring more happiness into your life. Gratitude journals help you focus on the positive things that happen every day, even when the rest of your life seems chaotic and out of control.

You can write anything without judgment. You’ll be reminded of the many things in your life to be thankful for. You’ll be more self-aware. You’ll have an increased sense of appreciation for everything in your life.

3. It reduces stress and makes you healthy

The study found that people who kept gratitude journals were more optimistic and felt better about their lives. They also exercised more and visited the doctor less than those who didn’t keep one. And it only took 10 minutes a day to reap the benefits.

A person who regularly makes time to write down what they’re thankful for is more likely to be happy, healthy, and fulfilled than someone who doesn’t.

Gratitude Journal helps us to stop taking things for granted, appreciate what we have right now, forgive others, and most importantly, appreciate our loved ones.

4. It increases the positivity in life

Maintaining a gratitude journal is an easy way to make sure you are always thinking about the positive aspects of your life. Some people write their gratitude journals before bed or just before they go to sleep. They then reflect on the positive things that have happened during the day and write them down in their gratitude journal. Others prefer to write down 3 to 5 things they are grateful for each morning when they first wake up. By doing this, they ensure that they remember to think about the good things in their lives throughout their day.

5. It makes you happier

Gratitude does not only change you. It changes the world around you. Gratitude unlocks compassion and connection and fosters co-creation. It makes you happier and healthier and helps you live longer.

Gratitude improves your mood. It makes you happier. The more grateful you are, the more you appreciate all of the good things in your life, even the little ones. That boosts your overall happiness level.

Another great thing about this type of journal is that it’s extremely easy to use. All you need to do is, choose a notebook or journal that feels right to you personally and then start listing all the things that make you happy. You can write down as little or as much as you want – whether it’s just one thing every day or something bigger and more significant once a week or month – it’s entirely up to you.
